Who We Are:
Welcome to the West African Health Initiatives (WAHI). We are delivering lifesaving support to West Africa, by bringing comprehensive medical treatment and research in all areas of medicine, specifically HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and Cancer.

What Need Are We Responding To:
Sub-Saharan Africa has a population of 635.2 million people. Of this number 196 million reside in West Africa. Medical care is not what it should be and many people in the region die of diseases, many of which can be prevented.

The entire region remains by far the worst affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Malaria, Tuberculosis and most recently Cancer. Sub Saharan African has an estimated 25 - 28.2 million adults and children living with HIV/AIDS. Malaria is one of leading causes of morbidity and mortality. About 2 million TB cases per year occur in the region. This number is rising rapidly as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Because of insufficient medications, equipment and poorly trained medical personnel, millions of people in the region die every year.

Our Plans:
The West African Health Initiatives is forming affiliations with US hospitals, medical schools and research facilities to send medical staff to West Africa. Affiliates will not only provide different levels of medical care for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis and Cancer treatment, but will train local medical personnel in care and clinical research to ensure that WAHI’s work is continued.

We will strengthen the local health care delivery system by helping to establish self-sustaining medical centers in Sub-Saharan West Africa; devise cost-effective strategies for prevention of infectious diseases; acquire, store, transport and distribute donated vaccines, pharmaceuticals and equipment.

Our Needs:
WAHI supports organizations in West Africa by donating equipment, medical supplies, vaccines and pharmaceuticals and funding. In order to do these things, we need to continually raise funds.
